Explore the butterfly’s' life cycle, receive information on host and nectar plants, make your own butterfly cage, receive a painted lady butterfly chrysalis to take home and watch it emerge into a butterfly.  Pre-Registration is required  $15

Weed Walk

Did you know that you are surrounded by medicines in your backyard and garden that you think are “just weeds”?  It’s true! Come see your dandelion, plantain, violet, burdock, yellow dock and other wild plants through new eyes. These are hearty healers that lift your spirits, offer delicious wild nourishment and they live all around you. Join herbalist Robin Rose Bennett for a delightful stroll through Glenwild Garden Center’s property, including the old golf course. Bring a notebook & a camera!   Please register in advance.  $16

Herb Container 7 Seminar,  Thursday May 23^rd, 1pm and 6:30pm
Join Jodie Bross for an informative herb gardening seminar and create your own mixed herb container garden for your home.  Learn the do’s and don’ts of growing herbs organically in your garden or in a container.  Class includes a container, soil, fertilizer and plants.  Cost $45.00

If you live in Northern New Jersey, and you are an avid gardener who loves exploring garden centers that truly care about the product they sell, you will have a wonderful experience at Glenwild Garden Center. We love what we do, and so will you.

Alexander J. MacKenn Sr. started his landscape business in 1928, often using a team of oxen to accomplish a job.  Constantly evolving and responding to the needs of the community, Alex and his wife Mabel added the retail shop in 1958.  After getting a degree in Landscape Design & Horticulture, Alex Jr. started designing and running crews in 1962, and he and his father worked together for at least 20 busy years.  Then the third generation came in.  In 1990, Brad, now a Certified Landscape Architect, came on full time, and then Jodie started in 1992.  (With a totally unrelated degree, but a love of plants and spreading the organic gardening word).  The business truly is ‘a labor of love’ for this family.
