Deer Resistant Plants

I’m sure you know that deer proofing is impossible—maybe deer discouraging would be a better choice.

There are many products that you can buy that will deter the deer, but the smartest thing is to understand which plants the deer prefer. You may be willing to spend time and money on a small section of your yard with sprays or other deterrents, but imagine the whole place being planted with their favorite munchies! Plant the majority of your property with deer resistant plants like Andromeda, an evergreen shrub with beautiful white flowers, or Foxglove, the tall ‘cottage garden’ perennial, or ferns and daffodils, and then focus your gardening of tempting delights in one small area. Have a few rose bushes, or some pots of impatiens, and treat them with an effective deer repellent like Liquid Fence, a reliable stand-by, or Deer Scram, a relatively new product on the market that many people have found to work very well.
